New Gradall Model XL 4300-II Excavator Takes Power and Versatility Both On and Off Road

NEW PHILADELPHIA, OH — The new Gradall Model XL 4300-II is the world's first hydraulic excavator in the 45,000-pound class to offer the combined advantages of a tilting, telescoping boom for full versatility — even on low-overhead jobs — plus excellent wheeled mobility both on and off paved surfaces. Equipped with powerful load-sensing hydraulics, the Model XL 4300-II is capable of performing excavations, demolition and other high-productivity jobs. Gradall's legendary telescoping, tilting boom actions also maximize the productivity of a range of attachments, enabling the Model XL 4300-II to complete fine grading, sloping, ditching, truck loading and unloading, spreading rip rap, trimming trees and other delicate functions.

Gradall's XL Series high-pressure, load-sensing hydraulics deliver the power and cycle times needed for the job at hand. Without the need for operators to select an appropriate working mode, or wasting fuel by working in the wrong mode, the Model XL 3300's advanced hydraulic system automatically provides the appropriate boom forces Gradall's job-proven boom creates a low working profile, enabling the Model XL 4300-II to work in places where a conventional knuckle boom cannot - under bridges, beneath tree limbs or in tunnels. The boom's 220° tilting action also allows the Model XL 4300-II to work productively in hard-to-reach places on hillsides, in ditches or on the sides and ceilings of tunnels. Consistent boom power is achieved with the telescoping action, unlike conventional knuckle booms which cannot maintain constant power throughout the full digging cycle. Maximum digging depth for the Model XL 4300-II is 20-feet, 11- inches (6.4 m), while boom radius at groundline is 30 feet (9.1 m). The rated boom force is 22,075 lbs. (98.2 kN). Bucket breakout force is 25,449 lbs. (113.2kN).

The Model XL 4300-II features the new Gradall excavator color scheme - gray with red accents and decals. This color scheme is now standard on the XL 3000 Series machines and the new highway speed carrier Model XL 4100-II.

Designed for operator comfort and efficiency, the roomy XL Series operator cabs provide more space and a range of features like a roll-up front window, overhead skylight, joysticks positioned in convenient pods and optional air conditioning. The Gradall telescoping design enables the operator to monitor movements of the full length of the boom through the entire digging cycle. The rear profile offers the operator a clearer view while minimizing the room required for a rear swing.

A tilting steering column is engineered for comfortable steering, and foot pedals determine travel speed and braking functions. Independent toggle switches control important features including two rear outriggers, designed to increase stability. Another standard stability advantage - front axle oscillation - locks the front axle cylinders to create a firm working platform. For even more stability, add two optional front outriggers, pinned onto the chassis, or a front blade which can even complement the machine's ability to spread dirt and even out terrain.

A 166-horsepower turbocharged Deere engine powers the working upperstructure and the four-wheel-drive undercarriage. Both axles are equipped with internal wet-disc type service and parking brakes. A range of available attachments includes excavating buckets, trenching buckets, pavement removal bucket, single-tooth ripper, ditching bucket, dredging bucket, grading blade, tree limb shear and more. Also available are various boom extensions including a Gradall Telestick.

Most service points can be reached at ground level to help assure optimum service life and productivity. A network of authorized distributors supports all Gradall excavators, supplying service advice and genuine Gradall parts.
