Shopping mall work is typically on a tight schedule because everything must be fine-tuned by opening day. Ground work typically includes extensive landscaping in the areas where customers will park their vehicles. Equipment must be rugged enough to handle big jobs as well as delicate grading, and it must work quickly. But extreme care must be taken to keep from damaging pavement and curbs. That's why the construction division of S. T. Wooten Co. chose one of the Model XL 3300 Gradall® excavators, mounted on a highly mobile undercarriage designed to work on or off paved surfaces. The Model XL 3300's capabilities were perfectly suited for landscaping the "islands" at the new Triangle Town Center Mall in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Model XL 3300 Gradall excavators are designed for exceptional mobility on most surfaces. Moving at 20 mph, the Model XL 3300 can travel quickly from one island to another in the massive parking lot. Because it's mounted on rubber tires, there's no damage to the fresh asphalt. Landscape work that creates specialized terrain and odd angles is ideal for the famous Gradall tilting, telescoping boom. Trucks typically dump fill at the edges of the islands and the Model XL 3300 spreads and finishes the areas. Accommodating tight angles and specified slopes and grades, the model XL 3300 is able to work efficiently from all sides of the islands, and from the inside of the larger ones.
